Check out these holiday looks to stay glam on any occasion!

You’ve been invited to a holiday party! You’ll be having fun with friends, great food and lots of holiday cheer. But what to wear? We’ve got the answer. Here is our definitive guide to looking fabulous and occasion-appropriate for every holiday event.

First things first: determine what level of formality is appropriate for the event. If you’ve been sent an invitation, the dress code is often printed at the bottom. No luck? Call the hostess and check. Knowing what to expect will narrow the field and ensure that you’ll choose something perfect for the event.

Gala
Crisp December nights are a great setting for fancy wintertime galas. You can’t go wrong with a floor-length gown, sparkly jewelry, heels and matching evening bag. To add more polish to your elegant look, try opera gloves and your best diamond jewelry—think red carpet movie premiere. If you’d like to stand out in a crowd of black gowns or are attending a Desi formal party, bring out your most heavily embroidered sari and ornate gold jewelry, which will always dazzle fellow partygoers.

Office Party
It’s always a little tricky to know what to wear on the day of your office party. First rule of thumb: cleavage and short skirts are no-no’s. Maintaining a professional appearance is still a priority. The office party is the perfect time to show off a little black dress or your best suit, dressed up with accessories and more glamorous makeup. Chandelier earrings and strappy heels are easy additions that tuck nicely into your briefcase.

Holiday Hints:

For any event, jewelry, shoes, makeup and handbags are the easiest way to dress up or dress down an outfit.

A simple, flattering and versatile cocktail dress is always a good investment piece. It’s a dependable choice when you’re dashing out the door, and it will stay in style for years.

Brightly-colored accessories are a great way to add some color to a black ensemble–one of this season’s biggest trends. Try an oversize leather bag in rich jewel tones or a striking gemstone necklace in your favorite color.

The holidays are the time to wear maximum jewelry. With a background of twinkling decorations, it’s the only time of year you won’t look over the top.

To light up a 9-5 face, dab on a moisturizer or foundation that has a slight iridescent tint.

Weekend Gathering
This is the occasion to wear casual, comfortable clothing—but don’t get too comfy; you still want to look put together and festive. Say yes to well-cut slacks paired with a figure-flattering cashmere turtleneck. To add some height while keeping your toes toasty, wear your best pair of closed-toe heels. This season’s array of flats and boots will also keep you trendy and in style. For more pizzazz, pair a wraparound blouse with the season’s dramatic full-length skirts and eye-catching jewelry.

Your Own Party
This is the time to let your personal style shine. Feel free to choose something you feel totally comfortable in and dress it up with fun accessories. If it’s a Desi party or you just want to mix things up, a glittering salwaar kameez and churidar is a great way to look dressy and comfortable. If you’ll be running back and forth between the kitchen and your guests, be sure to choose an outfit that not only is appropriate for the type of party but also is something you can easily maneuver in. Avoid whites; they’re notorious magnets for stains.
