Letter from the Editor

Dear ABCDlady Readers,

With summer around the corner and the school year coming to an end, the ABCDlady team brings you our annual summer issue. First, we bring you part II of III in our series on Shaadi.com and its effect on marriages, arranged and otherwise. We’ve been receiving a tremendous amount of feedback on our last segment, so we’d like to invite you to share your comments too. We’ll print the most interesting feedback after we release part III.

Keeping with our theme of relationships, our Love and Sex expert meets someone struggling with his long distance relationship and another reader with a jealous boyfriend.

Looking for a blast of summer energy? I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “You are what you eat.” This month, our Desi Diva explores what exactly that means. Did you know that the food you eat affects wrinkles, cellulite and your all-around energy level? We discuss which foods you should eat and which you should avoid to keep yourself getting carded at the liquor store!

We know summer is a time of year to watch your waistline, so this month’s cuisine article emphasizes the health benefits of South Indian cooking. Check out our recipe for eggplant masala.

And while we’re in the kitchen, we’ve got a great activity for your young kids this summer: cooking. Our parenting expert discusses the benefits of cooking with your child. Our expert’s five-year-old is on his way to becoming a mini-chef while learning important lessons on nutrition and trying new cuisines.

Are you having trouble enjoying the nicer weather because you’re overextended? This month we chat about stress and how to handle those feelings of exasperation towards your never-ending to-do list.

For many dealing with stress, exercise is the answer. So we’d like to introduce you to Anuja Rajendra, who’s making fitness fun, Bollywood-style. This young entrepreneur is taking her personal passion and turning it into a career.

With grad school and undergrad graduation season upon us, we expect that many of our readers will be on the hunt for a job. Our career expert gives you some insider tips on getting noticed, networking and acing that interview.

This month, we also have a writer reflect on her relationship with her mother, now that her mom is reverse migrating back to Bangladesh.

Sincerely,

Navdeep Kathuria
