| Dear ABCDlady Readers, It seems this year is flying by! Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away and before we know it, we’ll have the holiday season upon us. Before the craziness begins, grab some chai and check out ABCDlady’s latest issue. This month we continue telling the stories of South Asians who immigrated to the U.S. In Part II of III, we meet Harnish Jani. Jani left India in pursuit of better opportunities and, in the process, discovered what was most important to him. Read his story here! We also meet Neelanjana Banerjee, – poet, journalist and teacher wrapped into one! Banerjee’s talents got her featured in CNN.com series on “Young People Who Rock” earlier this year. This month, we also meet Ekta, domestic engineer (a.k.a. housewife). Ekta went to school for journalism and ended up the manager of a busy household consisting of her husband, their two children and her father-in-law. This domestic engineer looks back at her choices and reflects. Our love and sex experts received some tough questions this past month. First, they talk to someone who is 34 and single and wondering if she’s simply too picky. Next, they meet a woman wondering whether to continue fighting for her relationship with her India-born husband. With Thanksgiving approaching, we know many of you will be taking trips to see your families. If you are a Sikh male, that could mean being subjected to a humiliating search of your turban. This month, we decided to visit the airports and investigate the type of treatment Sikhs and other minorities are encountering. |

| If you are taking a road trip to see your family, our parenting expert provides some tips and tricks to keep your kids happy and occupied in the car. For your Thanksgiving meal, our cuisine expert has the perfect Desi substitution for cranberry sauce, which can be used not only as a condiment to turkey, but also with toast, chapattis or even in a cheese platter. Check out her recipe for cranberry chutney. Also this month, wondering what South Asian foods are good for your heart? ABCDlady’s dietician and wellness coach takes a look at South Asian food and provides a guide to heart healthy choices for you and your family. Finally, with the temperature turning colder, the
days of dry skin are already beginning. Our Desi Diva provides some
must-have tools to combat the cold weather’s arrival.
Sincerely,
Navdeep Kathuria
